Weddings: Schmitz – Berg

Dorene A. Schmitz of Portland, daughter of Richard A. and Eva L. Perkins of Astoria, exchanged wedding vows with Michael D. Berg of Olympia, Wash., Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at The Stephanie Inn in Cannon Beach. The groom is the son of the late Nils D. and Evy Friden Berg.

Trudy Phillips of World Ministries was the officiant. The bride was given in marriage by her good friend, David Drayfall, who was also her witness. Patti Berg was the grooms witness.

The bride attended Astoria High School and Mount Hood and Clatsop community colleges. She is the lead sales manager for Lincoln Heritage Insurance Company in Portland.

The groom attended schools in the Seattle School District and the Washington State University School of Horticulture. He is an assistant manager at IFA Nurseries Inc.

The reception was a formal dinner at The Stephanie Inn.

The honeymoon destination is New Orleans during Mardi Gras, the last week of February. 

The couple resides in Olympia and shares a second home in Portland.
