Oregon Football’s Civil War reviewed

Sports writer Kerry Eggers will present the history of Oregon’s biggest college rivalry on Feb. 17. “It’s War! Beavers vs Ducks: The History of the Longest and Greatest Sports Rivalry in Oregon will begin at 7 p.m. at the Seaside Library’s Community Room. Eggers will trace the annual game from its beginnings in 1893, will recap the top five Civic War games of all time and discuss how the game has become such an important part of the Oregon’s sports culture. Photo archives of UO and OSU games will be part of the presentation.

Eggers has been a sports writer since 1975. A Corvallis native, Eggers graduated from OSU. His first job was for the Oregon Journal from 1975 to 1982. He then worked for the Oregonian from 1882 to 2000, and has been with the Portland Tribune since 2001. Eggers is a four-time Oregon Sports Writer of the Year and is also the author of four books.
