Published 4:00 pm Sunday, January 16, 2011
The Lower Columbia Preservation Society can help provide the answers about which type of wood molding, paneling or trim is appropriate to the style of a home. Master craftsman and woodworker Kevin Palo will present a lecture on historic wood details found in regional houses at 7 p.m. Jan. 26 at Clatsop Community College, Towler Hall, Room 310, located at 1660 Lexington Ave. The lecture will be based on period books, early photographs and examples from Palos projects.
Palo has worked on many National Historic Register properties throughout the West Coast as a fabricator of architectural millwork. His company, Ten Mile Planing Mill, offers historic rehabilitation, restoration consulting and architectural millwork. Vintage machinery and hand tools are used. He is currently an adjunct teacher in CCCs historic preservation program.
The Lower Columbia Preservation Societys mission is to preserve, protect and promote the historic architecture in the Lower Columbia region. The lecture is free and open to the public.
