Recipes to help young girl

Pictured right is KENZIE ABBOTT, 16, a student at Wahkiakum High School who has diabetes and is prone to seizures. Her parents, JAMES and LORINDA ALEXANDER, want to get a SPECIAL SERVICE DOG for Kenzie – one that can detect a seizure before it happens. But the dog would cost a minimum of $10,000 because of the specialized training it receives, which can take from six months to two years, according to Epilepsy.com

So, a fundraiser is on, and it’s a new approach. One easy way to contribute won’t cost you a cent: they’re putting a cookbook together of local recipes, and you can add yours at www.typensave.com. To log in, type your name; the group is Kenzie and the password is dog. When they have enough recipes, they’ll sell the cookbook.

Her parents are also doing creative things like making custom T-shirts to sell, and James is thinking about setting up an air brush temporary tattoo program. And, you can still help out the old fashioned way, too, by donating to an account at The Bank of the Pacific.

For information, or any fundraising ideas, call the Alexanders at (360) 795-0575.
