Vernon Rodrick “Vern” Hill, 88, of Seaside, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, in Seaside.

He was born Aug. 2, 1922, in Hamlet, to Albert and Anna (Wilen) Hill.
He received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Oregon State University.
For two years, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

On July 25, 1944, he married Doris Barkham in Buffalo, N.Y. She survives, residing in Seaside.
Mr. Hill was a mechanical engineer at the Hanford Nuclear Facility. He retired in 1972.
He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Cannon Beach, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Oregon State University Alumni Association.
Family members said he liked hunting and fishing. He was always available to help those in need.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Charlotte Hill of Seaside; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Donald Neet of Eugene; five grandsons and their spouses, Alan and Misha LeClair of Walnut Creek, Calif., Nathan and Mary LeClair of Medford, Kevin and Sarah LeClair of Portland, Samuel and Justine Hill of Gearhart and Andrew and Kari Hill of Milwaukie; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Peter Hill.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at Community Presbyterian Church, 132 E. Washington St. in Cannon Beach.
Private interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Astoria resident, 93
Marvin Adelor “Marve” Fausett, 93, of Astoria, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, in Astoria.
He was born Nov. 14, 1916, in Enderlin, N.D., to Andrew and Inger (Wold) Fausett.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
On June 28, 1942, he married Anna Louise Fausett in Astoria. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Fausett was a farmer, logger, automobile body repairman, aircraft mechanic, car salesman and parts man. He spent most of his adult life in Astoria and Olney.
He was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, and was a member of the vestry and the church choir.
Family members said he enjoyed hunting, watching his grandchildren play sports, telling stories and spending time with his family.
He is survived by three sons, Gary Fausett and his partner, Peter Jepsen, of Boston, Kirk Fausett and his wife, Wendy, of Astoria, and Lowell Fausett and his wife, Helen, of Corvallis; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Marci, Krista, Emily, Jared, Anna and Kelsey Fausett and Kirk Fausett Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Petty-Fausett and Pierce Burnham-Fausett.
A memorial will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9 at Peace Lutheran Church, 565 12th St.
