Marvin Lyle Rogers

Marvin Lyle Rogers, 78, of Lewis and Clark, died on July 13 in Astoria.
Mr. Rogers was born on Feb. 26, 1932, in Almena, Kan., the son of Charles Ross Rogers and Esther Olson Rogers. He was raised in Oregon and is a 1950 graduate of Scappoose High School. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War.
On Sept. 10, 1966, he married Karen Johnson in Portland. She survives living at the family home.
He studied at Portland State University and completed his master’s degree in 1970.
Marvin worked as a probation officer for the State of Oregon and worked in Tillamook, Clatsop and Columbia County offices. He was an Astoria resident for the past 38 years.
His memberships included the Seaside American Legion Post #99 and Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Seaside.
In addition to his wife Karen, his son, Bruce Rogers of Astoria and his grandson, Garret Rogers, also of Astoria, survives him.
Memorial services with military honors have been held. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
