DONNA QUINN of the Cannery Pier Hotel wrote in to tell the Ear about the June 21 “Filmmaker’s Dinner” at CLEMENTE’S, an opportunity to meet author and filmmaker, BILL CARTER, pictured above, top, who was in town on a Northwest tour with his book, “RED SUMMER” about salmon fishing in Alaska. He also answered questions and signed books for the appreciative crowd.

“LISA and GORDON CLEMENT prepared an exquisite four course Bristol Bay wild salmon dinner and RUDY MARCHESI of MONTINORE ESTATE WINERY complemented the beautiful food with organic biodynamically grown wines,” Donna said. “The menu included Dungeness crab cake with saffron aioli, fresh tomato sorbet with pistou basil twists, Bristol Bay sockeye salmon with a summer vegetable cerviche and a superb Yugoslavian fig and honey creme tart.” Anyone hungry yet?

“After dinner, guests viewed a 15-minute demo for a ‘Red Summer’ TV series and watched Carter’s award-winning documentary ‘MISS SARAJEVO,’ whose executive producer with U-2’s BONO. It was a fascinating evening … and we heard Bill Carter’s message that we need to eat wild salmon to support the world’s healthiest salmon fishery in Bristol Bay.”
