North Coast athletes, coaches in action around the region

Local players and three coaches took part in the annual Gatorade/OACA Boys Basketball All-Star Series over the weekend in Eugene and Oregon City.
Senior stars from the Class of 2010 competed in two basketball games against other all-stars from their classification (6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A) Friday and Saturday.
The Class 4A North team was coached by Chris Hunt of Astoria and Kostanty Knurowski of Sweet Home.
In Friday’s game, the North pounded the South 90-63 at Morse Event Center in Eugene.
Tillamook’s Matt Bryant scored 20 points to go with 14 rebounds to lead the North. Astoria’s Max Johnson had three assists and three rebounds.
Seaside’s Bren Bletscher was also listed on the North roster, but did not play in Friday’s game.
The North completed the series sweep with an 88-80 victory Saturday in Oregon City.
Drew Blankenship of Baker and Mitchel Wilson of Marist were named the “Star of Stars” for the 4A division.
3A All-StarsWarrenton’s Josh Jannusch was one of the coaches for the Class 3A North all-star team, which defeated the South 96-71 Friday.
Six players scored in double figures for the North, including Warrenton’s Cody Patterson, who had 11 points to go with two assists and two steals.
Patterson scored 15 points in Saturday’s game, a six-point win for the North.
Dayton’s Jacob Gonzales and Nyssa’s Seth Glenn were named the “Star of Stars” for the 3A division.
2A All-StarsWill Isom of Knappa was one of two coaches for the South all-star team in the Class 2A series, which opened Friday with a 72-66 win for the South over the North.
Vance Downey of Portland Christian scored 18 points for the South team, while De La Salle teammates Royshad Curry and Robert Auger added 17 and 10 points, respectively. Knappa’s Tevan Klauser scored seven points, with a 3-pointer and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
Klauser scored 14 points in Saturday’s contest, a 108-77 victory for the South.
Vance Downey of Portland Christian and Calvin Molan of Salem Academy were selected as the “Star of Stars” for the 2A Division.
