“Local celebrities JOHN CHAPMAN, KCWB 94.9 Music Matters radio personality, and the honorable Astoria Mayor WILLIS VAN DUSEN came out in support of approximately 50 fans to judge the GOONIES COSTUME CONTEST held at VIDEO HORIZONS during the Saturday night 1980s celebrations,” JULIE HOUSE of Video Horizons wrote to the Ear.
“A well-rounded cast of characters arrived in costume and performed their favorite lines or scenes from the movie in tribute to their favorite Goonie,” Julie said. “The competition was tough but light-hearted and the Goonies spirit of camaraderie was high as the judges conferred.”

The official ruling: Everyone wins! “Especially when the community comes together to support events that celebrate movies made in Astoria,” added Neal. “Thanks go out to John and the mayor for coming out to our Goonies event. They’re both really great guys who always add life to the party. And, thanks to the fans. None of us could have done this without their interest. It’s been fun!”
