Coffee with the Commissioner Set – Coffee with the Commissioner, an opportunity to air concerns and ideas with Clatsop County District 5 Commissioner Robert L. Mushen in a relaxed residential setting, will be held at noon Tuesday at 148 E. Van Buren St. in Cannon Beach. All Clatsop County residents are invited, and asked to bring their own coffee cup. The speakers will be Ann Lederer, Court Appointed Special Advocates executive director, and Carmen Posey, CASA volunteer coordinator, who will speak about CASA and children who are victims of abuse or neglect. Garden Club Meeting Set – The Sou’Wester Garden Club will meet on Wednesday at the Bob Chisholm Community Center, 1225 Avenue A in Seaside. Friends of the CRMM Convene – The Friends of the Columbia River Maritime Museum meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Kern Room at the museum. The new officers for the year 2010-2011 will be installed. The speakers will be Bill and Dorothy Davidson, from the Community Emergency Response Team, with a program titled, “Your Friends in Time of Need.”
Wickiup Senior Lunches Set – Senior citizens in the area are welcome to have lunch at noon Wednesday at the Wickiup Grange Hall, 92683 Svensen Market Road. ILWU Pensioners Meet – The International Longshoremen’s and Warehousemen’s Union Pensioners meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Local No. 50 Longshore Hall, 491 Industry St. A potluck lunch precedes the meeting.

Prostate Cancer Support Group Forming – A prostate cancer support group is forming in Astoria. Meetings will be held at the Astoria Senior Center, 1111 Exchange St. Anyone with prostate cancer, or anyone of any age who is concerned about prostate cancer is welcome. Recycle Old Ink Cartridges – A box for recycling used printer ink cartridges has been set up at Astoria High School’s main office as LeeLynn Vellucci’s senior project. The money raised from the recycled cartridges will go toward the Senior Celebration for the 2010 graduates on graduation night. The collection box will be in the office until the end of the school year.
