Anniversary: Nunenkamps – 68th

Victor Louis and Mary Chrystobel (Burlingame) Nunenkamp will celebrate their 68th wedding anniversary in June. They were married June 7, 1942, in Astoria, at Grace Episcopal Church. Mrs. Nunenkamp was born and raised in Astoria.

Mr. Nunenkamp was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force for 30 years, covering three wars, World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

The couple raised two children, a son, the late David Nunenkamp, who was the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture for the state of California when he died in 2006; and a daughter, Vicki Nunenkamp, who is the director of Senior & Disabilities Services in Douglas County. The Nunenkamps also have six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
