Local 4-H group seeks to help homeless youth

From Feb. 12 to 14, eight 4-H members from Clatsop County went to the Western Oregon Regional Leadership Development Retreat in Salem. At the end of the camp, they participated in a community service project to help local homeless youth, inspiring them to help the homeless youth and their families in their own community. Several possible fundraising ideas included a car wash, food drive, bake sale, 50/50 raffle and a community meal. The dates for these events will be announced at a later date.
To help the 4-H group collect goods for homeless youth, items can be donated at the 4-H Oregon State University Extension Office, 2001 Marine Drive. Items needed are canned foods, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes, shaving cream, paper towels, toilet paper, Band-Aids and socks. To donate, or help youth give back to their community, call the Extension office at (503) 325-8573.
