KNAPPA – The high school wrestling season officially kicked off Wednesday night at Knappa, as the Loggers hosted a 4-way meet with Corbett, Ilwaco and Warrenton.

And the Warriors and Knappa hooked up in a couple big matches on the mat. Warrenton’s Tony Nguyen had a pair of victories at 103 pounds, as he pinned Knappa’s Trevin Morgan, and later scored a decision over Logger Kody White.

The Warriors’ Miles Pember had a first-round pin over Knappa’s Joel Lemire, and Warrenton’s Conner Madison won by fall over Logger Alex Mejia.

Warrior heavyweight Oliver Pringle had a pair of victories over Ilwaco wrestlers Beau Morrow and Sergio Nunez.

Knappa had some success as well, as Pat Morgan had a 19-2 major decision over Ilwaco’s Josh Berteaux; Aaron Posey was on the wrong side of a near fall in the first round, before rallying for a second-round pin against Ilwaco’s Ben Anlin; and Billy Taylor had a first round fall over Nick Cox of Ilwaco.
