Astoria paving, Jeffers Gardens work will cause traffic delays

The city of Astoria Public Works Astoria 2009 Paving Project contractor has scheduled paving work throughout the week at the following locations:
Trending
Monday: 14th Street from Grand to Jerome avenues.
Tuesday: Franklin Avenue from 35th to 36th streets; 36th from Duane to Franklin avenues.
Wednesday: Cleanup work.
Trending
Thursday: Street striping within the city limits will begin at 8 a.m.
Friday: Clean-up work.
All schedules are subject to change in the event of unfavorable weather conditions. No parking at these locations will be allowed. Citizens should be prepared for short traffic delays and should use alternate routes where possible.

Next week Clatsop County crews will be oiling and surfacing the roads in the Jeffers Gardens area as well as Wireless Road and Orchard Lane. All residents on these roads are asked to move all vehicles off of and away from the road to facilitate this process. Motorists are urged to drive slowly and carefully in the work zones as well as on the new oil mattes.
Other work will include paint striping on all county roads that have markings. Motorists should obey the signs and pilot vehicles to stay out of the wet paint.

The Oregon Department of Transportation will continue work on the Neahkahnie Mountain Rock Wall Repair next week. The project consists of disassembling and reassembling a failing rock retaining wall along U.S. Highway 101 north of Manzanita.
The reassembly will include new drainage features to improve the wall’s structural stability. The project also includes improvements to the surrounding sidewalk and parking area.
The scheduled work includes reconstruction of the rock wall. Traffic may be intermittently controlled with flaggers before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m. as needed to move equipment and install signs. Expect minor delays.
Also next week, there will be bridge repair work done at Tide Creek Bridge (mile post 36.47), Lost Creek Bridge (mile post 55.29), Gnat Creek Bridge (mile post 77.25) and Big Creek Bridge (mile post 82.52) on U.S. Highway 30.
The scheduled work includes installation of post-tensioning rods at Tide Creek Bridge. Traffic may be intermittently controlled with flaggers as needed to facilitate the work.
Also on U.S. Highway 30, work will continue on a project that consists of installing a new traffic camera and pavement sensors at mile post 75, about 22 miles east of Astoria.
The scheduled work includes pole installation and traffic camera wiring.
Expect minor delays.
