A reception will be held for Tom Dickerson’s tribute to his late father, Thomas D. Dickerson, “The Man Who Loved Engines – Flying, Racing and Sailing on Airships, a Historic Photographic Exhibit for Father’s Day,” at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Blue Scorcher Bakery, 1493 Duane St. There is no cost for this event, and refreshments will be served.

Dickerson’s father was a crewman aboard the dirigible USS Shenandoah when it flew over Astoria on Oct. 19, 1924, on its return to San Diego from Camp Lewis, Wash. The historic aviation exhibit contains photos of the Shenandoah and press clippings about its flight over Astoria and also images of sea planes, machine shops, airship interiors, United Kingdom airships and more. The exhibit will run through July 17.
