The Astoria Column staircase replacement project will begin today. No buses, trailers or motor homes will be allowed to drive up to the Column for the duration of the crane work through June 11. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be allowed during this project, subject to flaggers’ control.

The Column road could be closed for as long as 11/2 hours at a time during crane operation. The residents of Coxcomb Drive will have access to their homes.

The Column park site may need to be closed during high traffic times. Astor Park and the Column road will be closed from 8 p.m. until dawn while the crane is on site.
