Letter: Are you kidding?

Commercial fishermen and The Daily Astorian: Have you looked out the window of your bowpicker in June, July, August and September? Those are thousands of sport fishing boats out there injecting a lot of money into Astoria’s economy.

One online comment to the “Just say ‘No'” editorial (The Daily Astorian, April 13) said, “All that sport fishing money goes straight back to Portland.” You’ve got to be kidding me. Hotels are busy, restaurants are hopping and Fred Meyer’s parking lot is full during fishing season. Not to mention charters and bait shops are in prime time. Give me a break.

Much of Astoria seems pretty ungrateful for the sport fishing/tourism factor. Things that make you go “Hmmmm.”
