Larry Martin Realty opens in Astoria

Larry Martin – longtime Portland resident and native Astorian – recently opened a new “full service” discount real estate firm out of his house in Astoria.

He started Larry Martin Real Estate after spending 22 years as a broker with REMAX in Portland. He has sold over 1,000 homes and is a member of the REMAX Hall of Fame and its Platinum Club.

Martin is a Certified New Construction Sales Specialist, and plans on servicing the North Coast from Manzanita to Warrenton, and east to Knappa.

He has structured his business around a one percent listing commission model. Martin said this means that sellers will receive full professional representation – with MLS coverage, Internet exposure, and virtual tours – at only a one percent listing fee. Sellers are also encouraged to offer 2.25 percent to the agent that represents the buyer.

“The five, six, and seven percent real estate commissions offered by most companies predate personal computers, fax machines, cell phones, and the Internet,” said Martin. “These tools help realtors handle real estate transactions more proficiently and the savings should be passed on to the homeowners.”

Martin was born and raised in Astoria, graduating from Astoria High School in 1966. After serving in the Army he decided to settle down in Portland and get into the real estate business.

With a house, family, and friends in Astoria, Martin has been traveling between Astoria and Portland frequently over the past several years. After beginning to develop some business on the coast, he decided to move here permanently and start his own business.

“I’m excited to be doing business in Astoria,” said Martin. “Plus, a ton of inventory and low interest rates make today’s market the best that I have ever seen.”
