Jaeson Koszarsky of State College, Pa., a fan of both Astoria and “The Goonies,” wrote to the Ear about the Goonie memorabilia story last week. He mentioned other prop items for sale on eBay, including a “really nice reproduction of the fictional Astoria Legend front page, pictured above, that features an article on the missing Chester Copperpot. He had the ‘key’ that Mezco Toyz based their replica on.”

Well that got the Ear going: How many Goonie replica/prop items are out there on the Internet, anyway?

At (www.yourprops.com/view_items.php?movie= Goonies%2C+The), there are 26 Goonie-related replica items for sale including One-Eyed Willie coins, treasure maps and Chester Copperpot’s wallet.

The most intriguing thing the Ear found was pieces of the Goonie house for sale on eBay. No, I’m not kidding. The seller says: “OK, call me crazy … but back in 2002, a group of us visited the Oregon Coast and we stopped in Astoria where Goonies was filmed. They were actually doing some construction on the house and had pulled away the entire original front porch area and some siding.

“So, with the permission of the owner, we took a few pieces of the scrap wood that was lying in a huge pile … You are bidding on a small piece … It is guaranteed to be authentic and comes with a personal Certificate Of Authenticity on cool parchment-like scroll paper.”

That auction ended Wednesday, and the piece of the Goonie house went for $33. Yes, for one little piece. A new auction has started, which ends on Saturday. You can see it for yourself by going to (www.ebay.com) and entering the words “goonie house” in the search box.

The Ear e-mailed Koszarsky about pieces of the house being for sale, wondering if he might be interested, and he said, “I’ve seen those pop up from time to time, too, and I do have a piece of the old porch railing, myself. I couldn’t resist.” Goonies never say die.
