Obituaries: Henry Gabriel Landavazo

Henry Gabriel Landavazo, 55, of Ocean Park, Wash., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, in Ilwaco, Wash.

He was born Oct. 12, 1953, in St. Johns, Ariz., to Porfirio and Jackie (Mares) Landavazo. His mother survives, residing in Kingman, Ariz. His father preceded him in death.

The family lived in St. Johns until moving to Flagstaff, Ariz., when he was 13. He graduated from Coconino High School in Flagstaff.

On Nov. 3, 1984, he married Vickie Smith in Flagstaff. She survives. The couple lived there until moving to Redding, Calif., in 1988. They moved to the Long Beach (Wash.) Peninsula in 1997.

Mr. Landavazo worked in construction his whole life.

Family members said he enjoyed spending time with his family. He and his wife played competitive horseshoes in and around Arizona and California. He enjoyed Karaoke and playing pool and loved fishing and camping. He was a Chicago Bears fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandie and Robert Harper of Redding, Julie and Andrew Isaason of Tacoma, Wash., Christina Landavazo of Kansas City, Mo., and Sheryl Riley of Ocean Park; two sons, Lance Rosendale of San Diego, Calif., and Frank Landavazo of Lovelock, Nev.; three brothers, Ernie, Tony and Larry Landavazo; seven sisters, Linda and Dina Martinez, Pricilla Lopez, Dorothy Baca, JoAnna Elam, Theresa Gardner and Cathy Landavazo; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Penttila’s Chapel by The Sea. A reception will follow.
