College gets a lift from donation

Clatsop Community College has announced that it received a $25,000 grant from The Louise K. and Albert J. Mittet Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation. The grant will be used to finance the recently installed stairwell lift located in the second floor of Towler Hall; the lift provides access to the classes, activities, and offices of the second floor of the building.

“The fund that made this grant possible was created by a long-time Astoria resident, the late Louise Mittet, who was concerned about the challenges that disabled residents of the city face every day,” said Jeff Anderson of OCF.

The foundation makes grants through an application process that involves local citizens in the review and evaluation of request for funds. Application materials are available through the foundation’s Portland office at (503) 227-6846.
