Weddings: Valdes – Della-Franca

Ashlee Valdes of Gearhart, daughter of Jim and Angela Waddell of Warrenton and Frank Valdes of Tacoma, Wash., exchanged wedding vows with Sean Della-Franca of London, July 12, 2008, at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Astoria. The groom is the son of Christine and Peter Della-Franca of Sydney, Australia.

The bride was given in marriage by her stepfather and father. Father Ted Prentice performed the ceremony.

The bride wore a strapless silk gown with a train bustled with a crystal brooch, accented with a 42 inch string of pearls and an antique brooch belonging to her great-great-grandmother. Family and friends came from across the U.S. and from Australia, England, Netherlands and Mauritius.

Maid of honor was Kendra Thysell of Seaside. Bridesmaids were Arin Dooley of Corvallis, Elizabeth Waldmann of Los Angeles and Jennifer Litarowich of New York City. Usherette was Tanya Waddell.

Best man was Austin Della-Franca of Sydney. Groomsmen were Adam Lee of Amsterdam, Netherlands and Ben Hicky of Sydney. Ushers were Joshua Valdes and Jeff Waddell.

The bride is a 2004 graduate of Seaside High School and attends the London College of Fashion. She works for the avant-garde department store Liberty and plans to pursue a career in luxury fashion buying.

The groom graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1994. He is a project manager in London.

A reception was held at the Masonic Temple in Astoria. Guests dined on a buffet and cupcakes while the couple swayed to a live jazz swing band.

The couple took their honeymoon in the Greek Islands and Emerald Coast of Turkey.

They live in London, with plans to move to New York City.
