Obituaries: Raymond P. Wallis

Raymond P. Wallis, 82, of Seaside, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, in Seaside.
He was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Los Angeles, to Richard and Ann Wolochow.
He attended Los Angeles High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Army for two years. He then attended the University of Southern California, where he played baseball for the Trojans and earned the title of “the home run king” in 1947. He later graduated with a degree in business.
In 1964, he married Gladys Wallis. She survives, residing in Seaside. The couple moved to Clatsop County in 2001.
Mr. Wallis was an avid baseball fan and coach. He coached several winning and championship teams up through the Colt League.
Family members said he also enjoyed golf, fishing and good food.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Sid Wallis of Los Angeles; two sons, Mitchell Wallis of Los Angeles and Jason Wallis of Seaside; three daughters, Lynn Clark of Los Angeles, Erin Barker of Seaside and April McDonald of Trinidad, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Allison Barker and Kegan and Dylan Wallis, all of Seaside, and Skyler and Rory McDonald of Trinidad.
There will be a private family remembrance.
