The Hoffman Center will present two performances of music by Patsy Cline, as performed by singer and actress Stephanie Murray, Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Pine Grove Community House, in Manzanita. The performances will be held at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets to the cabaret concerts cost $10 at the door. Light refreshments will be served.
“Stephanie’s appearance in Manzanita last year was so well received, we sold out the one evening event,” said Hoffman Center president David Dillon. “This year she agreed to come back and do two shows for us. They will be great.”
A theatre graduate of the University of Portland, Murray has received two Portland Drammy Awards for Best Actress in a Musical. One of those awards was for her title role performance in “A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline.”
Patsy Cline was an American country music singer who enjoyed crossover success during the Nashville Sound era of the early 1960s. She died in a plane crash in 1963 at the height of her popularity.
Cline is considered one of the most influential female vocalists of the 20th century. Among her hits were “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “She’s Got You,” “Crazy” and “Sweet Dreams.”
