Everett Marque Marriott, 74, of Astoria, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in Beaverton.

He was born Sept. 8, 1933, in Astoria, to Everett “Rosebud” and Irene Marriott. He attended John Jacob Astor Junior High School, and was in the last ninth grade to graduate from there.
In 1953, he graduated from Oregon Technical Institute as an X-ray technician. He interned at Barnes Veterans Hospital in Vancouver, Wash.
He entered the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was in charge of the X-ray department at F.E. Warren Air Force Base Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyo.

After leaving the service in late 1957, he attended and graduated from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. He worked in Mill Valley and Gridley, Calif., as a funeral director and ambulance driver. He also served as deputy coroner for Marin and Yuba counties. He moved back to Astoria in 1962.
He married Jacqueline L. Smith of Astoria. She preceded him in death March 18, 2002, after 33 years of marriage.
Mr. Marriott founded Rosebud’s Appliance Sales and Service. He also drove school bus for the Astoria School District, with 29 accident-free years. He retired in 1990, due to poor health.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, past member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Regatta Parade Committee, past president of the Sunset Empire Amateur Radio Club, charter member of the Fort Clatsop Muzzle Loaders Association and past member of the Astoria Clowns for more than 10 years.
Mr. Marriott was an active member in the Boy Scouts of America for more than 12 years and served as scout master of Troop 510. He was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks No. 180 Astoria, a life member of American Legion Clatsop Post 12 and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans “Beaver State.”
Family members said he was an active Ham radio operator.
He is survived by a daughter, Susan Marriott of Bend; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark and Ammei Marriott of Virginia, Bryce Marriott of Lake Oswego and Bruce Marriott of Phoenix, Ariz.; four granddaughters, Jacqueline and Jenna Marriott of Virginia, Kurstin Evens of Ontario and Rachel Marriott of Astoria; and three great-grandchildren, Carson Litwin and Kira and Cohen Evans, all of Ontario.
A memorial will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Elks Lodge, second floor, 453 11th St.
