Eileen Corren, broker with Windermere Manzanita, recently completed training in green home issues.
Corren attended a two-day workshop in Portland that earned her STAR Realtor certification (Sustainability Training for Accredited Real Estate Professional) from the Earth Advantage National Center.
Earth Advantage is an Oregon nonprofit organization that promotes green building.
“I have been selling real estate in Manzanita for 15 years and find that consumers are seeking healthier energy efficient homes and are hungry for information on resources to lead a more sustainable life,” Corren said.
She wants to help clients reduce their home energy and water consumption and improve air quality. Some of the potential benefits of choosing “green” when building a new home or remodeling are lower utility and maintenance costs, along with increased health, safety and comfort, Corren said.
“I’m excited about the increasing interest in reducing our impact on the earth,” she said.
As a STAR Realtor, Corren is listed on the Earth Advantage Web site and can access technical assistance from Earth Advantage Staff.
Earth Advantage National Center opened in Portland in 2001, offering energy efficiency and sustainable design resources. According to the center’s Web site (www.earthadvantage.com) the facility is designed to help homebuilders, architects, contractors and homeowners design houses that use energy and resources wisely.
