Protecting the North Coast’s natural resources so they will be here “in perpetuity” is the goal of a local land conservancy that has quietly built up its holding of lands over the past 22 years.

North Coast Land Conservancy Executive Director Neal Maine said those wishing to explore the conservancy’s properties are welcome to hike and take pictures on most of their holdings, although a few are off limits because they are on private property or are in a delicate setting.

“We have some fantastic properties,” Maine said. “We spend a lot of time partnering with other land trusts,” he said. “U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Nature Conservancy, Division of State Lands and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife have all helped us be successful.”
