Gary Douglas Rogers

Gary Douglas Rogers, 64, of Astoria, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, in Portland.

He was born April 9, 1943, in Fort Devens, Mass., to William and Joyce Rogers. His parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Rogers graduated from high school in San Diego. He attended college for three years studying electronics.

On May 27, 1972, he married Bep Rogers. She survives, residing in Astoria.

Mr. Rogers worked for 30 years at Water Pollution Control Plant in San Jose, Calif. He retired in the early 1990s.

He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Family members said he loved to teach the Bible. He also loved music, and was an avid guitar player.

Mr. Rogers is survived by two sons, Robert Rogers of Castro Valley, Calif., and Ricky Rogers of California; two daughters, Johanna Roennmann and Anita Scott of Morgan Hill, Calif.; a brother, William Rogers of California; a sister, Jill Rogers of California; a stepmother, Ruth Rogers of Oklahoma; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Rogers.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1760 Seventh St.

Omega Funeral & Cremation Services in Portland is in charge of the arrangements.
