Remember Fred, France’s biggest fan of “The Goonies?” Lifelong movie buff and Webmaster Frédéric China is looking for a host for an upcoming month-long trip to Astoria to learn more about the town, make a short movie, work on his English and update his Goonies Web site (www.goonies1632.com, currently under reconstruction) with pictures and video.

China last visited Astoria in October 2004 and spent 10 days touring locations from the movie and collecting pictures for the Web. He’s trying to raise enough money for plane tickets so he can spend several weeks here, and hopes to find a temporary job while he’s in town.

In June, China traveled to the set of another of his movie obsessions, the new Indiana Jones movie filming in New Haven, Conn., where he met director Steven Spielberg. A local bed & breakfast offered him free lodging in return for creating a Web site for the business. China said he is willing to provide Web authoring and graphic design services in return for lodging and food in Astoria.
