Erin Dietrich is the new publisher of the Seaside Signal, the city’s weekly newspaper. She took the reins August 15th.
Before that, Dietrich worked at Clatsop Community College in graphic arts and public relations. The new post is her first stint as a publisher.
“I’m fascinated by the media world,” Dietrich said. “And I love the community of Seaside.”
Dietrich has a degree in journalism from the University of Oregon, and was a reporter for the Signal before she left to work at the college.
She said being hired as publisher was a “monumental” opportunity to do work she loves.
Dietrich now supervises a staff of five employees and makes key decisions. She said she’s starting off slowly and will explore making changes, as she gets more familiar with the job and the paper’s readership.
“I’d like to listen to the community and see what they’d like for their local paper.”
