Obituaries: Lars Akerblom

Lars Akerblom, 74, of Nehalem, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, in Forest Grove.

He was born Sept. 24, 1932, in Finland, to Gosta and Aina Akerblom. He grew up in Finland and moved to Canada as a young adult.

On Dec. 16, 1985, he married Barbara Chandler in Astoria. She survives, residing in Nehalem.

Mr. Akerblom worked for CA Taggart Construction. In his spare time he enjoyed commercial fishing for salmon. He retired in 2002.

He was also an active member of the Tillamook Gun Club and the Tillamook Elks Lodge number 1437.

Family members said he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kimmo Akerblom of Bend and Timothy Akerblom of British Columbia; and a sister in Finland.

At Mr. Akerblom’s request, no service will be held.

Waud’s Funeral Home in Tillamook is in charge of the arrangements.
