The deadline to apply for a full scholarship to attend the Welding Certificate Program during the fall term at Clatsop Community College has been extended to Aug. 22.

Applicants could be awarded up to $12,660 a year to attend the one-year program to prepare students to successfully pass American Welding Society certification exams. Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, equipment, transportation or childcare while enrolled at CCC.

To qualify for this scholarship opportunity offered by NorthernStar Natural Gas/Bradwood Landing, applicants must be enrolled, or planning to enroll, in the CCC one-year welding certificate program in the fall of 2007.

Educational background, work experience and need will be considered. Previous experience in the construction trades and/or a strong mathematical background is also helpful.
