In One Ear: Goonies of the Caribbean?

In a wild fit of imagination (and smart self-promotion), Steve Concotelli, a freelance film editor living in Los Angeles, put together a fun film clip, “Goonies of the Caribbean.”

On the Web site, (www.gooniesvspirates.com), he explains why he did it:

“Because these movies were made for each other!

“I mean, c’mon – look at the similarities. They both have mysterious pirate ships, hidden caves, skeletons, treasure hunters and a golden medallion that leads the hero on their journey. But what really got me is the fact that they both have pirates with only one eye. What are the odds!

“So I immediately began my quest to bring these two swashbuckling tales together. The trailer was cut on an Avid Adrenaline, and took about 40 hours to complete (much of that was importing/exporting video). I love both movies and it makes me smile to see them together.

“Now I only hope that Richard Donner and Jerry Bruckheimer share my sense of humor.” The Ear hopes so, too.

The clip can be seen on Concotelli’s site or on YouTube at (www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJSp2jNI7Co)
