In One Ear: Class Act keeps cool thanks to Napa

Astoria’s Napa Auto Parts donated the parts to the Astoria High School drag race team to install an electronic water pump system and fan to prevent the engine from overheating. The car has had a problem with the engine overheating on race day and preventing students from running the car for prolonged periods of time.

The AHS Drag Race team has been working on the car for weeks installing a new fan, distributor, plug wires, spark plugs, fuel lines, water pump system and relocating the new battery and alternator. The battery was moved to the rear of the car, and the team had to run new cables to the front of the car. All of the parts were donations from area businesses and the team was overseen by local professionals.

The Class Act race car placed second July 1 at the Woodburn Drag Strip, and the car ran perfectly.
