For years, “Goonies” lovers have debated the film’s chances for a sequel, while the movie’s creators have flip-flopped over whether “Goonies 2” could be a hit.

But are the Goonies good enough for a musical?

The world may find out.

It now appears the 1980s kid adventure flick is destined for Broadway. At least that’s where director Richard Donner’s sights are set.

He told an EW.com reporter that a musical adaptation of the original – written by Chris Columbus from a story by Steven Spielberg – is an option. According to the Entertainment Weekly Web site, Donner has discussed the idea with Spielberg, and is “fairly passionate” about the project.
