AHS’s Pizazz places seventh at state; individuals earn honors

Astoria High School’s dance team, Pizazz, performed at the University of Portland’s Chiles Center Saturday and earned seventh place in the state competition among 4A schools.
Three students, Kylie Toftemark, Sarah Elder and Sina Fastabend, were named to the 12-member all-state dance team.
Academic scholarship winner was co-captain Karlee Johnson. She submitted her grades, an essay and teacher recommendations for the honor. Sina Fastabend received a dance scholarship.
The group performed “Dance for a New Generation.” Coach is Jeanne Peterson.
Seaside’s new dance group, Pulse, placed 12th.
