Obituaries: Robert Paul Lindstrom

Robert Paul Lindstorm, 80, of Warrenton, died Jan. 19, 2007, in Astoria.
He was born Feb. 21, 1926, to Vincent Paul Lindstrom and Genevieve Ruth Adams-Lindstrom in Vernonia. His father died when Mr. Lindstorm was 5 years old.
His mother married Albert Schmidt and they raised Mr. Lindstrom in the Hillsboro area.
In 1948, he married Virginia Burgess. They later divorced.
He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II, then became a logger. He was a longshoreman while raising his family, then moved to the coast and became a commercial fisherman. He did some fishing in Alaska. He was known to his friends as “Old Grumpy.”
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and crabbing. Family members said he was proud of a 53-pound salmon he caught.
Mr. Lindstrom is survived by four children, Steve Lindstrom and Vickie Baer, both of Warrenton, and Terre Allenby and Connie Hill, both of Eugene; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Lloyd Hursh of Cando, N.D.; four nieces; one nephew; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
