The North Oregon Coast Symphony announces two performances of its upcoming holiday concert, “Music of the Season,” featuring works by Handel, Chadwick, Grainger, Anderson and Bizet.

The first performance will be 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Tillamook United Methodist Church, 3808 12th St. in Tillamook. The second concert will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Cannon Beach Community Presbyterian Church, 132 E. Washington St. in Cannon Beach.

The symphony will be joined for the concert finale by the Clatskanie Community Choir in Tillamook and the North Coast Chorale in Cannon Beach.

“I am so impressed with the commitment and quality of the North Coast musicians,” said conductor Collin Heade. “They roll with a lot of variables like more demanding music and adverse weather conditions to get to rehearsals. You are lucky to have this caliber of people living in your community.”

Admission is $10 and kids 12 and younger are admitted free. Bring one nonperishable canned food item to be donated in Tillamook to the Tillamook Regional Food Banks and in Cannon Beach to the Astoria Loaves & Fishes program.

The North Oregon Coast Symphony is comprised of volunteer musicians from the North Coast region. The NOCS provides quality classical concerts for the community four times per year. Through weekly rehearsals conducted by Heade, the NOCS provides musical education to the community. The symphony also manages the Sandy Stromquist Memorial Scholarship Fund, a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors who rehearse and perform with the group.

Advance tickets are available for both concerts. Call (503) 368-7160 or (503) 426-0936 for more information.
