Anytime Fitness, which opened a facility at 1540 Columbia Boulevard in St. Helens in October, caters to people with active lives who want to keep up on their workout routine but have to do it on their own schedule – even if that means at 3 a.m.
Anytime Fitness, a national chain, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Jon Martin and Janet Conkey, co-owners of the St. Helens franchise, are on hand about 50 hours a week to assist members. The remainder of the time, members can use a special key to gain entry to the gym, which is equipped with security cameras to ensure members’ safety. The special key also allows members to utilize Anytime Fitness’ 15 centers throughout Oregon and 600 facilities nationwide.
“Many of our members regularly travel on business and will stop into (an Anytime Fitness) gym in another city,” Conkey told Coast River Business Journal.
Conkey said the gym caters to people following a general fitness regimen. In addition to the normal assortment of exercise machines, dumb bells and free weights found in most gyms, the local facility has private showers and changing rooms that lock from the inside for added security.
Martin and Conkey, who combined have more than 25 years of experience in the fitness industry, are at work on opening three other Anytime Fitness franchises in Canby and Woodburn and Longview, Wash.
