The Ear has learned that COASTAL LIVING MAGAZINE, which named the 15 best waterfront inns in America in a recent issue, chose two local businesses to be on their top 15 list.

The No. 1 choice was BOARDWALK COTTAGES in Long Beach, Wash. The magazine praised Washingtonians Pat and Bill Turner for buying a run-down motel property and transforming it into a travelers’ comfort zone.

Fourth on the list was the CANNERY PIER HOTEL in Astoria, commended for its breathtaking water views. They also liked the lobby’s exposed beams and wide expanses of glass which create a dramatic impact the moment a guest walks in.

A national magazine that celebrates life along the coast, Coastal Living (www.coastalliving.com) will mark 10 years of publication in 2007, serving a total audience of 4 million.
