Henry ‘Hank’ William Pyne

Henry “Hank” William Pyne, 69, of Long Beach, Wash., died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005 in Vancouver, Wash.

Mr. Pyne was born July 30, 1936 in Big Oak Flat, Calif., to Henry Edwin and Jessie Lavina (Hesketh) Pyne.

He was raised in Stockton, Calif. He graduated from barber school and owned his own shop for several years.

He moved to Seattle and was employed at Boeing. In 1967, he worked in the juke box business. In 1974, he became a charter boat captain for COHO Charters. He owned and operated the Reel Fun boat out of Ilwaco Harbor, Wash., until 2005. He also worked in construction and painting in the off-season.

A 20-year member of the Ilwaco Charter Association, he was a board member for 10 years.

He married Shirley Pryor Oct. 4, 2001. She survives and resides in Long Beach.

Family members said Mr. Pyne was known for his sense of humor, kindness, hard work, love of fishing and the “Sturgeon Shuffle.”

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Chauntay Pyne of Astoria; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joe Fisher of Seaside; two nephews and their wives, Eric and Cheryl Rice of Turlock, Calif., and Mark and Susan Rice of Portland; and one niece and her husband, Connie and Terry McCleary of Astoria.

Mr. Pyne was preceded in death by a sister, June Gothberg, and a niece, Diane McCain.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Peninsula Baptist Church in Ocean Park, Wash.
