MIDDLETON, Conn. – Astoria’s Tomas Morrissey is at it again.

After earning the 2004 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Rookie of the Year award his freshman season, Morrissey recently garnered his third career all-conference award, taking home second-team honors for his 11th-place finish at the conference championships.

In his second year of cross country at Amherst College, Morrissey helped his team to an eighth-place finish at the 23rd annual NESCAC Championships, hosted by Wesleyan University last Saturday.

Morrissey paced the Amherst men in the 8,000-meter race, finishing 11th overall in 26 minutes, 13.1 seconds.

In the New England Championships Oct. 9 in Boston, Morrissey finished 19th out of 321 runners, helping Amherst to a 14th-place team finish.

Morrissey covered the 8,000-meter course at Franklin Park in 25:35, which was 39 seconds behind the winner.

Up next for Amherst is the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships, Saturday at Connecticut College.
