James Tracy Caruth

James Tracy Caruth, 92, of Astoria, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005 in Astoria.

Mr. Caruth was born April 19, 1913 in Hartford, Conn. to Angus and Elizabeth Caruth.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1937 to 1945 during World War II. After attending Southern Methodist University, he received a bachelor of arts degree and went to work for the Department of Agriculture. He developed (www.canwelearn.com), a web site devoted to educational reform.

He married Juanita Whitis in San Antonio, Tex. and moved to Clatsop County in July of 2004. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Caruth is survived by a sister, Mary Arnold of Salem, N.J.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Bonnie Caruth of Kansas City, Mo., Tommie and Mark Redwine of Seaview, Wash.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial was held Aug. 25 in Dallas, Tex.
