Do you like to start the day with an early-morning swim? Or do you prefer to unwind after hours by fishing or water skiing?
If your leisure time doesn’t fit the norm, Clatsop County Parks Division has a deal for you. The county is offering extended use passes for access to Cullaby Lake County Park before and after posted hours. The park usually is open to the public from 8 a.m. to dusk daily. State law permits water skiing from sunrise to sunset.
The extended use fee of $75 includes an annual park pass and a key to the front gate. If an annual park pass is already purchased, the fee is $50.
For more information about the extended use pass, call the parks office at 325-9306.
No matter what the hour, users of Cullaby Lake park will find some new or improved features.
Finishing touches are being put on a new wetlands interpretive trail, funded in part with state grants.
Public Works staff and the Inmate Work Crew have helped parks staff clear and mulch the 1.5-mile walking trail. A wooden viewing platform has been built. Interpretative signs will soon be placed. Boy Scout Troop 642 from Seaside installed two comfortable benches along the trail. Leader Mike Shade and scouts Jake Shade, Ian Gibbs, Jackson Meyer and Josh Ferrar did the work. Although the project isn’t quite complete, the trail is open for public use.
The county parks crew has upgraded the volleyball pit into a nice regulation size sand pit.
The county has applied for a grant from the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department to replace the playground equipment.
