Don’t throw out your old plastic pots

PORTLAND – If you’re heading to Portland anytime soon, you have a chance to recycle your plastic flower pots and nursery trays.

Far West Fibers and Portland Recycling Centers will provide seven collection sites for plastic flower pots and nursery trays through July 31. All sizes will be accepted and they don’t have to be washed.

The locations are: Far West Recycling Centers, 12820 N.E. Marx St., 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. weekdays, (503) 255-2299: 5525 S.E. 28th Ave., 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, (503) 238-1640; 10750 S.W. Denny Road, Beaverton, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, (503) 643-9944; 6440 S.E. Alexander Road, Hillsboro, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, (503) 644-9944.

Portland Recycling Centers are accepting pots at the following locations: 1520 N.W. Quimby St., Portland, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays; 2005 N. Portland Blvd., Portland and 341 Foothills Road, Lake Oswego. These centers are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

In addition, these five Portland-area Fred Meyer Garden Centers are also accepting plastic pots and trays: 3030 N.E. Weidler St., Portland; 1111 N.E. 102nd, Portland; 19200 S.W. Martinazzi, Tualatin; 7700 S.W. Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, Raleigh Hills; and 11425 S.W. Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, Beaverton.
