Clatsop County will conduct an oral auction on foreclosed land May 25 in the main-floor lobby of the county courthouse, 749 Commercial St.
Available parcels are located in Warrenton, Elsie, Cannon Beach, Seaside, Lewis and Clark, Sunset Beach, Del Rey Beach, Burnside and Astoria. They range in size from a fraction of an acre to almost eight acres.
The auction will begin at 10 a.m. sharp. Bidders should arrive early in order to complete registration and be assigned a bidding number. Registration will start at 9 a.m.
Unless otherwise noted, payment is required in full by 5 p.m. the day of the auction. All parcels will be sold as is. Bidders can inspect the properties before the sale. The county does not provide a survey or title insurance.
Auction packets describing the parcels can be viewed at the Clatsop County Assessment and Taxation office on the second floor of 820 Exchange St. Packets can be purchased at the counter for $6 or by mail for $8 prepaid. A list of the properties and terms for the auction are available online at (www.co.clatsop.or.us)
The Board of Commissioners wants to return surplus county-owned land to the property tax rolls. Most of the land came into county ownership because of unpaid taxes. The sale proceeds from those parcels will be divided among the local taxing districts.
