Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, Fort Clatsop is pleased to announce the park’s next free guest speaker program. Jane Jacobsen presents “Confluence Project: Overview and Update” at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20.
The Confluence Project involves unprecedented interpretive artwork by artist Maya Lin. These works will be located at key confluences of the Columbia River and its tributaries. The Confluence Project – like Lewis and Clark’s journey – will explore possibilities for a better future. Through place and art, the project’s goal is to reflect a consciousness of the tremendous changes set in motion by the Corps of Discovery in the Northwest on its native people and environment. Jacobsen is the executive director of Confluence Project and will be sharing the latest information on this bicentennial project.
This presentation is one of the monthly free speakers’ forum, “In Their Footsteps: Corps Observations,” sponsored by the Fort Clatsop Historical Association, Astor Haus Bed and Breakfast, Lucy’s Books and the Red Lion Inn. These programs are held in the Netul River Room of Fort Clatsop’s visitor center.
