Rainier 56, Seaside 21SEASIDE – Rainier and Seaside had a combined six forfeits in their Cowapa League dual meet Thursday night, making for a quick match to close out the regular season.
On the mat, the Columbians won seven of the remaining eight matches to score a 56-21 win over the Gulls.
Seaside will have plenty more wrestling at home as the Gulls host the district meet, Feb. 11-12.
Each team received three forfeit victories in Thursday’s match, with no matches at 103, 112, 119, 125, 135 and 140.
Seaside’s only win of the night on the mat came from Jake Terrill, who defeated Rainier’s Sam Bledsoe 8-1 at 145 pounds.
Seaside coach Chuck Mattocks called it a “very important match that could have important implications for the seeding of the 145-pound class for the district tournament.”
The Gulls’ Josiah Sigler is still out of the lineup with an injury, while Kyle Oathes and Justin Rogers both picked up forfeit victories.
