CANNON BEACH – The new year inspires new techniques for artworks at Primary Elements Gallery, located at 172 N. Hemlock St., Suites 10 and 11.
Gallery owner and manager Stephanie Ansley described the new offerings. “We are featuring the stained glass work of Kenny Fox of Manzanita, who has previously displayed one-of-a-kind lamps and chandeliers using both stained and fused glass,” she said. “The new work is a glass depiction of the original artwork by his son, Joe Fox. The colorful abstracts are offered in several sizes and are unique in the fine craft of glass.”
The gallery also has a new body of work from master potter Antoinette Badenhorst. The artist earned her citizenship in the U.S. from South Africa, where she was a potter for 27 years. Stonemason Kenton Pies has exhibited sculptures in copper, wood and stone for display through the winter, and Cash Baxter has six new acrylic and oil coastal paintings; originals and prints are available.
Raised on a cattle ranch in Central Oregon, sculptor Greg Congleton’s artistic training has been mostly self-taught. A contractor by trade, designing and building major remodels and homes for 28 years taught him how to plan and construct complex projects. His artistic outlet during these years was drawing architectural plans and three-dimensional renderings. Then he discovered metal sculpting and moved from sculpting with concrete and lumber to bronze and steel. “An excellent sculpture needs a good foundation and framework, the same as a building,” Congleton said.
Whether he’s working in bronze or steel, Congleton said he is looking to combine proportional excellence and emotional power in his sculpture. The stories closest to his heart are inspired by the supernatural work and word of God, he said. For more information on Greg Congleton and his artwork, visit www.gregcongleton.com on the Internet.
Primary Elements will be taking part in the Midwinter Mystery Weekend, Jan. 28 through 30.
