CANNON BEACH – EVOO Cooking School owners Lenore Emery and Bob Neroni invite aficionados of good food to sign up for cooking classes over the New Year’s weekend.

“New Year’s Eve and Jazz!” prepares palates for 2005 with a class from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31. Cost is $99. Start with panettone, an Italian celebration bread served with Argyle sparkling wine, followed by garlic and lemon calamari, pappardelle with porcini and lobster mushroom ragout, braciola, stuffed rolled beef braised in wine, grilled eggplant with house-made mozzarella and tomato fondue. Courses are paired with appropriate wines. Dessert is a traditional cannoli served with Chef Bob’s famous hot chocolate. The party ends with a “toasty” toast to 2005 on the beach in front of the Ocean Lodge, complete with bonfire and sparkling wine. Party favors, too! Register by calling (503) 436-8555 or visiting the Web site (www.cannonbeachcookingschool.net)

Ever wanted to be a Sous Chef for a day? You can work along with the EVOO staff in preparation for an evening class in chef coat and apron. Not for everyone, the class is aimed at home cooks who want to take their culinary development up a notch. To discuss a date and time, call Chef Bob at (503) 436-8555. EVOO is located at 188 S. Hemlock St.
